“So, Diana, what’s your excuse for betraying me?” The words cut through the tense air, spoken by a man whose amber eyes blazed with an intensity that matched the gravity of the situation. Before him knelt Diana, her once lustrous blue hair now bloodied and broken, a stark reflection of her shattered loyalty.

“… you’re evil,” she replied, her voice barely above a whisper, yet dripping with defiance.

The man’s lips curved into a sardonic smile. “Oh, so, looking out for all of you makes me evil?” His tone was laced with bitter amusement as he contemplated the twisted logic of his former allies. In his mind, he replayed the echoes of protagonist halos and heroines’ mentality, now starkly real before him.

Having come from a world far removed from such grim reality, he had read about these personalities in novels. Yet, experiencing their shortcomings firsthand was a sobering revelation.

“How am I evil?” he pressed, his gaze piercing through Diana’s facade of defiance. His eyes then shifted to a figure lying at his feet, a young man whose limbs were crushed and broken, yet whose gaze burned with unyielding defiance.

“… you ba..stard, You killed millions,” the man managed to rasp out, his voice strained with pain.

The man’s amusement grew at the absurdity of their accusations. He had eradicated all the evil organizations within the Empire after ascending to his throne. Wars were waged to crush rebellious kingdoms that stood against his Empire, ultimately uniting the entire Heidal Continent under one flag—the Selvius Empire.

He turned his attention to another figure, Karina, her pink hair now matted with blood, her body broken and battered. She clung to a rock for support, her defiance undiminished despite her circumstances.

“Hmm, so what about you, Karina? Wasn’t your family about to be executed by the Aidiac Royal family? Is it wrong for me to have intervened?” he questioned, his voice tinged with incredulity.

“You killed them without mercy, and although you saved my family, it was not worth it,” Karina retorted, her words ringing with bitterness.

“I just saved—”

“It’s bullshit. You could have solved everything peacefully without drawing so much blood,” she interrupted, her voice dripping with disdain.

As he listened to their accusations, the man’s understanding deepened. He realized why those novels depicted these people as hypocritical and low in intelligence. Despite his efforts to change their fates, to rescue them from slavery, poverty, or betrayal, they chose to blame him for their misfortunes.

“Guess you all have the same reasons,” he remarked bitterly, his gaze sweeping over the seven individuals before him, their disdainful stares only serving to fuel his frustration.

In that moment, he understood the cruel irony of their ingratitude. He had only sought to sever the root causes that would have subjected them to excruciating suffering, yet they chose to blame him for their salvation.

“Hahaha,” he chuckled bitterly, the weight of their accusations pressing down on him like a heavy burden. “Indeed, now I see.”

With a heavy heart, he turned away from them, his resolve hardened by their betrayal. In his mind, he vowed to never again extend his hand in kindness to those who would only bite it.

“System………” his voice trailed off, lost in the echoes of regret and resentment that now filled his heart. And with a heavy sigh, he prepared himself for the trials that lay ahead, determined to forge his own path in a world filled with ingratitude and betrayal.
