Touched By The Moon

“Touched By The Moon” by Scarlett Hart. My name is Katia, and I’m trying to survive until my partner arrives, though that may be easier said than done. Rejection feels like the final blow, and I whisper my acceptance of her decision as I flee through the pack house, across the manicured lawn, and toward the woods. “I’m sorry, my sweet girl,” I say to my wolf. “I’m sorry that you stayed with me and had to endure everything I’ve suffered.” She whispers back, “It’s not your fault, Katia.” The pain is overwhelming, and I just want it to stop. Running, I reach a cliff with a waterfall, and without hesitation, I jump, opening my arms, tears streaming down my face, falling silently, craving the peace of oblivion. “I love you, my sweet girl! Meanwhile, the Snow Moon pack is celebrating their last barbecue of the summer next to the waterfall on their land. Laughter fills the air as the adults watch the playful puppies. The alpha, beta, and gamma swim with some of the older kids, enjoying the warm day. Suddenly, a cry pierces the air, “My God, someone just jumped over the waterfall!” The pack freezes, watching in shock as a figure falls with open arms, hitting the water below with a deafening crash. The alpha, beta, and gamma spring into action, swimming toward the area where the person sank. The alpha’s wolf goes wild, repeating, “Find her! Find her!”

Diving down, the beta surfaces with a small, broken body in his arms. The alpha takes the girl and lays her gently on the ground. The sight is shocking; she is covered in scars and wounds, her body twisted and broken. The beta asks, “Who could do this to someone so defenseless?” The alpha falls to his knees, a primal scream escaping his lips, “KILL…KILL…KILL!”

As the pack tends to the injured girl, the alpha’s mind races with questions. Who is she? What has she been through? And most importantly, who could have done this to her? The girl remains unconscious, her body fighting to survive. The alpha knows that they must protect her, for she is now a part of their pack, and they will not let anyone harm her again. The mystery of her past unfolds, revealing a dark and tragic story that will test the pack’s loyalty and strength. And through it all, Katia’s spirit hovers between life and death, her bond with her wolf stronger than ever, guiding her back to consciousness and to a future she never imagined possible.
